Before I jump into today’s weekend recap post, I wanted to let you all know about something going on in my personal life. Unfortunately one of my best friends, Megan, recently had a death in her family, and I need to take some time this week to be with her family and attend the funeral services. A few of my out-of-town friends will also be staying with us this week, so I’m not exactly sure what my posting schedule will look like. Sometimes it takes an event like this to put things into perspective, and spending time at the computer blogging while my friends are in town to support one another suddenly doesn’t seem so important. Thank you for your support and understanding. <3
On a happier note, I had a really nice weekend and am excited to share a recap with you all. 🙂
Friday night was date night, and Fabio and I kicked off our evening together with a trip to Home Goods. Obviously this was my planned half of the date night, haha!
Although there were tons of things that we saw (and wanted) for the house, we were looking for a couple of things for the loft and guest bedroom specifically that we weren’t able to find. We did make plenty of mental notes though for what we would need to come back for once we have a little more nailed down in those rooms, like, um, furniture of some kind. 😉
After Home Goods, we drove over to Top Golf, one of Fabio’s favorite places on earth. I know I’ve explained this place to you guys before, but in case you need a refresher it’s basically a driving range that serves beer and food, and instead of regular golf balls, you hit balls with microchips in them that track where they land. You aim for different colored areas and get points based on where your ball lands.
We had to wait a little while for our bay to be ready, so we started off with some beer and food.
Before long, it was time to play!
Fabio obviously did amazingly and wound up hitting the farthest target a number of times. All that golf playing this summer really paid off!
I did absolutely horrible, but at least I improved toward the end. 🙂
I still had a ton of fun even though this game is definitely not my strong suit. 😉
On Saturday morning, I met up with my mom and Maids of Honors for bridesmaid dress shopping!
I was feeling overwhelmed when it came to picking out bridesmaid dresses since there are so many options to choose from, and after ordering a few online and then returning them when we didn’t like them, my friend suggested going to Bella Bridesmaids, a franchise store that helps you pick out bridesmaids dresses. Bella Bridesmaids recommends that you make two appointments: one with just a couple members of your bridal party where you make an initial selection and one with the rest of your bridesmaids where they can try on the dresses and decide which one they want. I emailed them a couple of ideas prior to our first appointment, and when we arrived they had everything picked out for us!
Maggie and Bianca both picked out the dresses that they want (not in these colors obviously) and we made selections for the rest of the girls’ dresses as well. Success!
After picking out dresses, we headed to lunch at Clyde’s, where I enjoyed a delicious soft-shell crab sandwich. I enjoyed every bite of it, and tried to avoid eating too many of the French fries that came with it.
It was such a nice morning with some of my most favorite people, and I’m so happy that my mom and Maids of Honor were able to join me for the first half of bridesmaid dress shopping!
Later in the day, Fabio and I drove over to Baltimore to celebrate our friend Tom’s birthday with a BBQ and an Oriole’s game. Fabio’s sister Diane and her husband Alex joined us there as well. 🙂
Before the game, we enjoyed a delicious spread of burgers and smoked sausages at Tom’s house, which ended with a ridiculous round of rock-paper-scissors where the loser had to take a shot. Of course.
Somehow I avoided playing and therefore didn’t have to endure the shot penalty. 😉 Yay!
I grabbed a chocolate cupcake on our way out the door, and after a short uber ride we arrived at the stadium.
Our seats were all in different areas so we hung out as a group by the outfield bar. The view from the bar was great, but I honestly didn’t watch a single play since I was busy chatting with my girl friends. 🙂
I always love when we get to spend time with Diane and Alex, who are so much more than just family!
Alex photo-bombed the picture Diane and I attempted to take.
Lukcily our second try worked out better. 😉
Love this guy!
After the game, our large group headed out the bar, and then Fabio and I headed back to Diane and Alex’s house where we spent the night. Such a fun day!!
Sunday was quite relaxing, and after driving home from Baltimore in the morning we spent the rest of the day at home watching football, cleaning the house, and watching Jungle Book in the evening (no judging – I liked it!).
Overall it was a really nice weekend, and I’m so happy we got to spend it with so many of the people we love so much (especially given the news from Megan that I got on on Sunday night).
Alright friends, that’s all I have for you today. Please keep Megan and her family in your prayers if you can. <3
Question of the day: No question today, just go tell someone you love how much they mean to you!
