Hey there, friends! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! Mine was absolutely perfect and included a fun mix of activities, so let’s jump right into today’s recap!

Friday

Now that the summer season is upon us, my job has started implementing flex Fridays! This means that if I work for 45 extra minutes each day, I can take every other Friday off. Friday was my first flex day off, so I had a very productive day at home working out, doing laundry, cleaning up the apartment, running errands, and hanging out with Jack! Fabio got out of work around 3:00 pm, so we took advantage of the beautiful afternoon by taking Jack to the dog park and then grabbing an early dinner at Faccia Luna in Clarendon. We hadn’t been there in a while and I forgot how delicious their pizza is. Yum.

My date isn’t bad either 😉 Jack was with us (under the table) and the three of us had a very nice outing together.

A little later in the evening we met up with a bunch of our friends at Stoney’s in DC to celebrate Erick’s birthday! It was a surprise party and I think he was totally shocked to find us all there. Success!

A lot of my best college girl friends were there and we had such a great time catching up!

I love this bunch 🙂

Fabio and I knew we had a very busy (and early!) Saturday ahead of us, so we headed home a little after 10:00 and were in bed by 11:00. Not too shabby!

Saturday

On Saturday morning Fabio and I headed down to the Key Bridge Boathouse at 8:30 am to get ready for another adventure with OutRun. We were on a team with Anne and her husband Matt, and we had an absolute blast!

The adventure was so much fun and I have a lot of pictures, so I’ll get a full review up for you guys tomorrow.

Overall it was such a fun workout, and I can’t wait to do it again 🙂

We got home from our OutRun Adventure at around 2:00 pm, and although we had big plans to head to a beer garden with some friends, we were feeling pretty tired so we just relaxed on the couch for a while, which was awesome. Later in the evening we met up with our friend James at Blue Jacket by the Navy Yard for some tasty beers. All the beers at Blue Jacket are brewed right in the restaurant by the staff, and they had so many good choices!

Fabio, James, and I had fun sampling different beers and picking out our favorites (I loved the Sideshow!). If you’re ever in this area, I definitely recommend checking Blue Jacket out! It was a fun atmosphere without being too crazy, and was a perfect way to end our day.

Sunday

Sunday was another gorgeous day, so Fabio and I decided to head over to the National Zoo! Even though we’ve lived in Arlington for a few years, somehow we had never been to the zoo together. I think the last time I visited the National Zoo was when I was on a field trip in elementary school! The National Zoo is free and they always have fun events like concerts, wine tasting (they call it Grapes with Apes), and beer festivals (Brew at the Zoo) so we really need to make our way over there more often.

We arrived and parked pretty quickly (we parked across the street to avoid the super packed parking lot) and soon we were seeing all kinds of fun animals! Not including this fake elephant, lol.

We saw prairie dogs…

Of course we saw a lot more animals (including the new baby panda, Bao Bao!) but these were the easiest to photograph 😉 Overall we had a wonderful day at the Zoo and will definitely be back soon!

After the zoo we wrapped up the day by running some errands, doing some chores, and of course taking Jack to the dog park one more time.

What kind of weekend would it be if we didn’t take Jack to the dog park more than one time? 😉

Anyway it was an absolutely perfect weekend and I couldn’t have wished for anything more. Be sure to come back tomorrow for my recap of the OutRun Adventure!

Question of the day: What’s your favorite animal to see at the Zoo?

  1. Sounds like a perfect weekend! I need to start joining you guys on these work out adventures on the weekends!!

  2. Sounds like a really fun weekend. I love trying new craft beers! My fave animals at the zoo are giraffes and all of the big cats!

  3. Oh my gosh I took my mom to Faccia Luna when she came to help me move/visit over Mothers Day weekend and I could have just ordered one of everything on the menu. I got some type of pasta with pesto cream sauce. To. Die. For. Now I want to try their pizza. Sounds like a very fun weekend, and perfect weather for the zoo!

  4. That looks like such a fun weekend full of relaxing, friend time and good eats! That zoo looks like so much fun too and how cool that they have those events! I am in love with your zoo day dress too, so cute!

  5. Wow that pizza looks incredible! And how cool you could take Jack to the restaurant too. I think Alfie wouldn’t be able to chill out at a place like that where there was lots of food about.
The zoo looks cool. We have a smallish one near us (that I also ran a 10k race around last year) but we rarely go. I’m not a huge fan of zoos if I’m honest. I just feel so sad for the animals. but I know there’s a lot of conservation work that happens.
