Hello there! Did you have a nice weekend? Fabio was out of town for his bachelor party until Sunday afternoon, which meant I had a lovely ladies’ weekend without him. Here’s a look back at the highlights!
As soon as I got home on Friday evening and walked Jack, I immediately got to work cleaning the house. Since I was away the weekend before, it had been a while since the carpets got vacuumed and the furniture got dusted, and I decided I might as well scrub the tubs and windows while I was at it. Having a messy house drives me nuts, so I figured getting the cleaning out of the way early would leave me feeling more relaxed for the rest of the evening. A little more than two hours later, the whole house was feeling fresh and clean. So worth it! The rest of the evening was spent eating leftovers and watching Grey’s Anatomy before heading to bed around 10:00. Wild Friday night indeed. 😉

The alarm went off at 7 a.m. on Saturday so I could get in an 8-mile run before my other plans for the day. It was cold and windy out, but sunny. I wound up running from my house down to the end of the Georgetown waterfront, which was exactly four miles.
From there I snapped a couple of pictures and then made my way back!
I really struggled from mile 6 – 6.5, but then I realized it was just because I was going through all the Rosslyn hills and things would get better if I just kept moving. I would tell myself to just run to the top of the hill and then I could stop to walk if I wanted, and then once the hill leveled out it wasn’t so bad and I kept going. On and on this went, until I was done with Rosslyn and most of the hills. Phew!
I was really proud of myself for finishing this run, especially since I was by myself, cold, and tired from the hills.
Once I got home I quickly showered and got myself ready before my mom arrived for some wedding festivities!
First up, we had an appointment with the tailor for my wedding dress fitting. We wound up going to Green & Blue Studio in Dupont since that’s the tailor that the store where I bought my wedding dress recommended, and I was so impressed with the service and knowledge of the women there. It was a bit more expensive than I was expecting (isn’t everything wedding-related?) but definitely worth it to have a dress that fits perfectly on such a big day.
More importantly, my dress – which I hadn’t tried on since July – still fit great and I still love it. Thank goodness!
After the dress fitting, we popped into Boqueria for lunch! I hadn’t been to Boqueria in ages, but their tapas and Spanish drinks were just as delicious as I remembered. My mom and I both started with glasses of white sangria!
Then we got a bunch of tapas to share including the patas bravas (SO delicious), croquettes, shrimp, and mussels. Everything was delicious!
We even decided to get the churros and chocolate for dessert since it was a special day. 🙂
After lunch, we had another wedding-related errand to run! The girls’ bridesmaid dresses arrived late last week, and my mom and I went to pick up the ones that arrived at the store (some girls got them sent to their houses, and some got them sent to the store). All the dresses looked gorgeous and I was so happy with how everything turned out! Yay!
After all our errands I headed back home, packed up a bag, grabbed Jack, and then drove over to my mom’s house. A couple of friends had invited me out to Baltimore for the night, but I thought a relaxing evening with my mom and stepdad sounded like a smarter option. We spent the night sipping wine, catching up, and watching cooking shows (our favorite!) before calling it a night somewhat early.
I was up bright and early Sunday morning since I had to be back in Arlington for a 10:00 a.m. appointment with my HOA committee, but before I left, my mom made me a glass of juice made with turnip greens, a carrot, and a pear.
Hit the spot!
Then my stepdad brought out whole wheat pancakes topped with homemade strawberry preserves for our breakfast. Wow – these were SO delicious. I hadn’t had pancakes in a long time and these were fantastic!
Everything was incredibly delicious.
Then I said goodbye to my mom and stepdad and headed home for my 10:00 a.m. meeting. As soon as it was over, my friend Kristen stopped by for a hot second to pick up her bridesmaid dress, and after that it was time to head out again, this time for a noon class at Edge Yoga with Fabio’s sister Diane! As soon as she heard the bridesmaid dresses were in, she texted me about meeting up for a yoga/lunch date since the boys were out of town and she needed to pick up her dress anyway. What a perfect time for a ladies’ date! 🙂
The class was really good, and then we headed over to Northside Social for lunch. I had a salad and a bacon scone – hey, it’s all about balance!
I also had a latte afterwords, which totally hit the spot.
Eventually – after spending way too long chatting – it was time to head our separate ways, and after saying goodbye to Diane I stopped by the grocery store and then to the airport to pick up Fabio.
Phew! It was a fun-filled, busy, girls’ weekend indeed!
Question of the day: Tell me three things you did this weekend!
