Happyyyy Friday!! I for one am so ready for the weekend. Work has been absolutely crazy with my annual meeting coming up in a few weeks, and I am looking forward to a break! Overall I had a really nice week though, and I’ll tell you about some of the highlights in today’s Favorite Things Friday post!
Made with plain Greek yogurt, lemon zest, garlic, and lots of pepper, this meal had so much flavor! It was also pretty easy to throw together, even if I did have a little trouble cooking the chicken thighs (I get so impatient! I’m also not used to cooking dark meat). Anyway, definitely give this one a try! Yum!
Hey look at that, I got my boys to run with me!
Well, getting Jack to run with me is never really an issue; he absolutely loves when I lace up my sneakers and grab his leash.
Getting Fabio out of bed, however, is another story, but on Thursday morning he joined us for a run! We planned to go about three and a half or four miles, but after running about a mile we saw a new-to-us dog park over by 2nd and L street NE. One our neighbors had actually recently told us about the dog park, but this was our first time going by. As soon as we saw all the other dogs running around and having a blast, we decided to cut our run short and let Jack play instead. #DogParents
After letting Jack play for a little while we had to run home to get ready for work, and even though we only wound up running two miles it was still a really nice morning! I’m hoping we can repeat this more often now that the weather is nicer for running.
While we were running, we spotted a raccoon climbing the fence to the metro!
At first I thought it was a cat, but then upon closer look I realized it was definitely a raccoon.
Is it weird that I think he’s kind of cute? I’m not sure how he got up there – or how he got down for that matter – but it was pretty cool to see him climbing around! Hey there, little guy!
Favorite Evening Out
Last night I met up with two of my old coworkers, Claire and Alexis, for dinner! Claire and I were at the same level at our old job, and we were always really close (in fact we still are!). Alexis was our manager, and though we talk every now and then I don’t get to see her nearly as often as I would like. It was so nice to get together and catch up!
We wound up going to A.G. Kitchen in Silver Spring since Claire and I both work nearby, and it was delicious! I wound getting the chopped salad with shrimp which I had ordered once before, and it did not disappoint!
Such a fun evening with two of my favorite ladies. 🙂
Check out this gorgeous sunrise from earlier in the week. I didn’t mention anything about this earlier, but Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of my grandfather passing away. I sort of felt like this beautiful sunrise was his way of letting me know he’s still looking down on me every day. 🙂
Speaking of rather sad times, my mom says that my childhood dog, Diana, is not doing so well. I got Diana as a puppy for Christmas when I was nine, making her 17 years old. To this day, I still consider her the best Christmas gift I’ve ever received! Growing up with her was so much fun, and I always loved being her number one human. 🙂
She’s lived a very long and happy life, and my mom says that right now she doesn’t appear to be in any pain but she’s been sleeping a lot and they are worried about how much more time she has.
Instead of feeling sad about this, I’m trying to remember how much fun we had together when I was younger. In addition to all the usual silly antics that a nine year old girl and a puppy can come up with (I’m sure you can imagine…), I will always remember when Diana had eight puppies and I got to spend the entire summer playing with them.
Diana was such a good puppy momma and I’m so glad we were able to keep one – Christian – and that he’s still there with her today.
I’m actually heading over to my mom’s house this weekend, where I’m planning to give her lots of extra love just in case. Please keep my sweet girl in your thoughts!
Question of the day: Tell me about your childhood pets!
