Hello there! Happy Monday friends. I hope you all had a great weekend! For my part I am pretty sad that it’s over and am cranky that I now have to face my first full work-week since before Christmas. Ugh. Let’s hope the week passes by quickly, shall we?

Anyway, here’s a look at what I was up to this weekend.

Friday Night

Friday evening after work I headed over to my friend Megan’s apartment to meet her new puppy, Tully!

Isn’t he just the cutest little thing you’ve ever seen? Tully is a 10-week old Westie that Megan’s boyfriend got her for Christmas. She invited me over to come meet the little guy on Friday after work and I happily obliged!

I headed over to Megan’s around 7:30 p.m. and we spent a fun evening sipping wine, munching on appetizers, and playing with Tully, of course! My friend Courtney was there as well and we had a great time catching up on some girl talk πŸ˜‰ It was such a nice way to spend the evening!

After I got home from Megan’s I threw on my PJs and planned to stay in for the night, but after receiving a quick call from one of my high school friends who was in D.C. for the evening, I changed my mind and headed out to the bars. Big mistake.

You guys, I did something really stupid. I wore really high heels that had a broken zipper in the back. I drank, and then I danced, a lot. I fell in my stupid broken-zipper heels. And I sprained my ankle. Again.

(I thought I mentioned this in a post before but maybe I didn’t…anyway I am always spraining my ankle ever since I broke it in high school. I’ve probably sprained it seven or eight times in the past few years. Ugh.)

The worst part is I didn’t even get to see my friend. I also spent a ton of money and consumed way too many calories from the alcohol. And now I have a hurt ankle and can’t run or do any high-impact workouts for at least a week. WHY DO I DO THESE THINGS?

When I woke up on Saturday my ankle was swollen to twice its normal size (it looked like an apple) and was all black and blue. I wish I could say that I spent the morning resting with my ankle propped up, but unfortunately I got a phone call at 9:00 a.m. announcing that the guys from Lowe’s had arrived and were ready to install new carpet in my apartment.

Oh right. The carpet people. I forgot about them.

Awesome. Who wouldn’t want to turn their apartment upside-down when they are extremely hungover and limping on one foot?

Although I love my landlord for offering to have new carpet installed, the timing for this could not have been worse.

I was seriously so miserable limping around trying to move all of the furniture from the living room into the bedroom and vice versa. Thank God Fabio was there to do a lot of the moving and the carpet guys were really nice and helped out. In the end my apartment was in total shambles.

A few very long and tiring hours later, everything was back in its place and we had a brand new beautiful carpet.

Phew! What a day lol. I have to admit, the first thing Fabio and I put back into place was the bed so that we could take a nap and recover from our hangovers πŸ˜‰ I was able to prop up my ankle, ice it for a while, and relax for a few hours which was definitely needed.

A little bit later on Saturday, Fabio and I drove over to my mom’s house to meet her for dinner! Jack came too, of course πŸ˜‰ (Clarification: he came to my mom’s house, not to dinner lol!)

I was feeling much better by this point and was really excited to have dinner with my mom, stepdad, stepsister, and her boyfriend. We wound up going to The Comus Inn, which is a beautiful little place overlooking Sugarloaf Mountain.

Sorry for the crappy dark iPhone pics!

When we arrived, we toasted with some delicious rosΓ© champagne (wow it took me forever to add that Γ© lol)

And then we ordered our food!

I started with some Maryland-style crab soup (aka spicy and full of veggies) which tasted really fresh and had so much scrumptious lump crab meat. I also snacked on a chive-flavored hush puppy that we all ordered to share. Yum!

For my entreΓ© I ordered the filet minion after a recommendation from the waiter, which was delicious! It was a huge steak though, and I only managed to get through about half before throwing in the towel.

It was definitely a fun evening with my family and I had such a great time catching up and swapping funny stories πŸ™‚

Sunday was a bit more relaxing and Fabio and I stayed at home and recuperated for the majority of the day.

We did wind up taking Jack to the dog park, and he proudly wore his Redskins sweater πŸ™‚

Too bad his sweater didn’t wind up bringing us the good luck that it usually does πŸ™ Oh well; until next season, Redskins.

Even though my ‘Skins lost, Fabio and I had a fun time watching the game at home. We enjoyed two Sam Adams chocolate flavored beers (which were actually really good!) and some buffalo chicken dip that was leftover from my visit to Megan’s apartment on Friday.

Later on around dinner time I whipped us up some quick chili and we enjoyed it while watching some more football.

Yumm! I do love chili!

After dinner I curled up with a new book I’m reading, The Violets of March (LOVE it so far!!!) and then we watched The Biggest Loser premier!

I have to warn you all that I am a big fan of The Biggest Loser and I will probably talk about it a lot now that it has recommenced. You have been warned!

Question of the day: Do you ever regret going out with friends and drinking too much?

Sure it can be fun to go out, but whenever I overdo it and wind up doing something stupid (hello, sprained ankle) I just feel like the biggest dummy. I always say “I’m never drinking again!” but that obviously never happens haha!

  1. Oh no! I’m sorry to hear about your ankle! That stinks πŸ™ I’ve had that happen before… once it was the week before my swimming state championships. Needless to say, I didn’t compete that year. I hope it heals soon. Good think you have a great boyfriend like Fabio to help you out πŸ˜‰

  2. That white dog is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen (and I’m not even a dog person!). I think we have all had those moments of ‘I’m never drinking again’… Alcohol + high heels = not a good combination!

  3. OMG Tully is adorable! I love when people post puppy pictures on food blogs. Dogs belong everywhere, in my opinion! πŸ˜‰

Don’t feel too bad. We ALL have our moments where we have done silly/stupid things while drinking. It happens! πŸ˜‰ I hope your ankle feels better, though!

  4. Oh Chelsea, I am so sorry to hear about your ankle… I mean at least you had a good time though right?? ((well besides the morning hangover & a swallon ankle)). Can I just tell you that your little dining room table & tea set plates are ADORABLE!!!

  5. Oh no!!! You had said that you had a sprained ankle from heels, but that just sounds awful! I hope it gets better soon! I’m totally known for doing stupid things and injuring myself (i.e. slicing my finger open on Thanksgiving eve), so I totally understand. And what a hassle with the carpets! Those things always seem to have the worst timing. Worth it in the end, but a pain to get there!

Also, I’m OBSESSED with BL! I’m so excited to have found a fellow BL lover!!

  6. Ah! Sorry to hear about your ankle! I can’t even imagine moving furniture while hungover…nevermind with a sprained ankle on top of that! I usually don’t regret going out with friends…but I’ve definitely had my fair share of rough mornings. I especially get mad at myself when I don’t drink any water or eat anything before going to bed, that always majorly helps with the hangover!

  7. Oh no, I’m so sorry about your ankle! I hope it heals very quickly!! And Saturday sounds like one brutal morning- a sprained ankle, horrible hangover and people in your apt moving everything around… yuck. But your new carpet looks great and I’m glad you got your nap and still were able to meet your Mom for dinner, it looks like a fun night!
