Hello there! Sorry for the late post today; work has been ca-razy! Like seriously, I’ve been running around non-stop all day trying to get a million things done. It’s kind of great though because it makes the time go by so much faster. Weekend, here I come!

Anyyyyway, since it’s Friday let’s jump right into today’s Fashion Friday post! Here’s my outfit today:

Shirt: J Crew

Skirt: Lands’ End Canvas ($12!!)

Shoes: Rue La La

Seriously, can you believe I got that skirt for so cheap?? Lands’ End Canvas is sooo amazing. I bought some jeans there recently for like $19 and my favorite shorts are from there as well ($12). Their regular priced stuff is just so-so (aka- not worth it), but those sales get me every time! Plus, it’s good quality stuff. You should seriously check it out!

Bootcamp Update

Today was another great day for bootcamp! I started my morning by running to the gym, which is only maybe 1/4 mile away (if that) and then I completed the following interval workout on the treadmill:

It was a good one! Running on the 8 speed was a pretty good challenge for me and I was really sweaty at the end of the workout. Then I did a circuit that worked my core muscles. My abs were feeling it big time! This bootcamp has been great so far :)

Olympics

So I don’t know about you guys, but I am pretty pumped for the Olympic ceremony tonight. I have been watching the coverage on the Today Show all week and they have been building up the ceremony like crazy! I don’t know how they are going to top the ceremony from Beijing a few years ago (those robots people were amazing ;) ), but according to the Today Show it’s being directed by the guy who directed Slum Dog Millionaire and is going to feature Peter Pan in some fashion. I’m so down with that!

[Source]

As I mentioned yesterday, my friends and I will be getting together for an Olympics party tonight. My friend Rachel from work found this amazing article with tips on how to throw an Olympics party, and I have a feeling the beer olympics drinking game (tip #26) will definitely be on our agenda tonight, along with a few of the other ideas (colored shots??)

Also, we debated some costumes to wear out tonight including but not limited to:

  • USA gear
  • Having each person be a different color from the Olympic rings
  • Dressing up like one of the athletes…perhaps in a tight bejeweled leotard?

[Source]

Hm. Maybe not. Oh well, either way it should be a fun time!!

So tell me, how do you plan on celebrating the opening ceremony?

First of all, can I just take a moment to point out that this is my fourteenth Fashion Friday post? That means I have been blogging for fourteen weeks. My little baby blog that I started back in April has really been growing, and all of you lovely readers who have been commenting each day really make me happy. Thank you all so much :) You make my day!

But anyway, let’s get to what I’m wearin’ today:

Shirt: Nordstrom Rack

Jeans: Nordstrom Rack (I think I have a NR problem…)

Shoes: Target

Head band: J Crew (though you can’t really see it that well at all)

I’m not sure why, but I had a really hard time picking out anything to wear this morning. I think I tried on like 7 shirts and didn’t like any of them. Plus, dressing for this weather is difficult because it’s been 100+ degrees outside but my office is freezing. Half the time I wind up snuggling in my work fleece (an awkward black zip-up with my company’s logo on it. Not cute.) So you can see my struggle.

It could also be that I just want some new clothes ;) haha. I hardly ever buy new stuff (though Fabio might disagree :-/ lol) so everything that I have is pretty old and still in the college clothing era, unless they are work outfits. Annoying!

Workout

Ok, I know I normally don’t give workout updates on Fridays, but today I had a bit of a revelation and just had to share it with you guys! Last week I bought one of my favorite books ever (Pillars of the Earth- in case you were wondering) on iTunes. I figured that I can listen to it while I’m walking to and from the metro each day, but that it would also be great for when I’m running with Jack. So, each morning this week I ran my mile and listened to my book on tape (er- book on iPod?) and then went back inside to do part of an Insanity DVD, like usual.

However, today when the mile was up I was at a really good part of my book. It was an action-packed scene and I just didn’t want to take off my headphones and do Insanity. So you know what I did? I dropped Jack off and headed off for another two mile run. It was great! I loved being able to listen to my book while I ran and I still got a great workout in (3 miles isn’t too bad for a weekday morning!). If you ever need some motivation while running I strongly recommend downloading a favorite book to your iPod. I didn’t even want to stop running after mile three; and you know that’s unlike me ;)

Fun Friday Favorites

So I saw some pretty awesome things around the web this week and thought I should share them with you all. I hope you enjoy!

1. This awesome recreation of Beyonce’s Countdown video. Apparently he named his snuggie “Blue Ivy.” Of course he did.

2. This picture of adorable puppies, along with 50 other adorable pictures.

3. This site that I have loved for more than a year now, but forgot about until today. I especially love the posts about iced coffee, tailgating, and tanning. So accurate!

4. If you have ever seen the infamous YouTube video for Honey Boo Boo Child, I saw this week that TLC is making a show on her whole family. Oh goodness, save us all.

And that’s it! I hope you guys all have a great weekend! Hopefully it will involve doing something fun, like say, dancing around your living room with your dog after one too many beers at happy hour. Not that I know anything about that…

Bye!

Hi all! How is everyone on this fine Friday?? I’m doing well except I have to admit I am feeling pretty crappy after my activities last night. Whenever there are $2 Caronas involved you know it’s going to be a good time.

But before we get to talking about any of that, it’s Fashion Friday!! Let me show you all what I am wearing today…

I spy with my little eye….sleepy Jack! Ha! This is pretty much what he does when I’m getting ready in the morning. Aka, nothing.

Jean jacket: Gap (I’ve been loving this denim trend lately)

Dress: H&M (the one I bought last weekend)

Earrings: H&M (also bought last weekend, obvs)

Shoes: Target

I like this outfit because it is comfortable and I can relax in it. Plus I love coral so it’s fun to wear such a bright colored dress. Yay!

So as you probably gathered from the beer photo above, I went to happy hour last night to celebrate Britt’s birthday. We went over to a bar called Front Page in Dupont Circle right after work to take advantage of their free tacos and $2 Caronas.

The line for the tacos was really long, but at that point there was no where to sit anyway so our choices were 1) stand and linger by the bar or 2) stand and linger while also in line for free tacos. Can you guess what we chose??

Obviously the tacos :)

They were laid out on a big buffet table and right smack in the middle was a roasted pig. EEK!!!!

How disgusting. While I do like pork and enjoy pulled pork as much as the next person, this was enough to totally gross me out and keep me far away from the pork tacos. No thank you. I’ll have the chicken please!

I topped my tacos with black beans, salsa, and a bit of coleslaw (weird, but tasty) and dug in. I wanted to take a picture but we were standing while eating and trying to hold our beers. Aka, no extra hands for photo-taking. Bummer.

After we ate we hung out for a while waiting for Britt and Jess to arrive. Things started out very civilized…

But as soon as Fabio’s friend Max ordered shots of bourbon things went quickly downhill.

I have to admit, I do love me some bourbon.

Soon Jess and Britt arrived and everyone happily wished Britt a happy birthday. Then the beers continued to flow, the place cleared out a little, and we saw a wide opening on the dance floor. Dance like crazy people to awesome 90′s music on a Thursday night?? Well if you insist!

Hey Jess!

Hey other Jess!

[Please excuse the poor iPhone photos]

The boys had fun too!

Hey boys!

It was a great night and we had so much fun just dancing, being goofy, and enjoying each others company.

Hope you had a great birthday, Britt!

So tell me, do you usually go out on work nights? I used to be in a happy hour phase where I would go out every Thursday after work (those college habits are hard to kick!) but lately I’ve been staying in more and avoiding the weekly happy hours. I’m always just so exhausted in the morning and hate going to work hungover. Plus all the calories from beer and drunk food are not something I miss. Sometimes you just have to make exceptions though ;)

Hello everyone! Can you believe it’s already Friday? This week felt so weird after having Wednesday off…like it was its own mini-weekend. I could use a break like that in the middle of every week haha. But now it’s Friday and the weekend is almost here! Hooray!

Plus that means it’s time for another Fashion Friday, so here’s what I’m wearing today!

Dress: Nordstrom

Cardigan: J. Crew

Sandals: Target

Now I don’t know about you guys but it is HOT again over here! This dress is perfect for the heat because it’s nice and breezy and I can wear it without the sweater as I am walking (and dripping) to work. Gross!

It’s brutal outside right now and tomorrow is supposed to be 105. Seriously? What am I supposed to do in 105 degree heat? There go my hiking and walking into Georgetown plans. Maybe there will be some shopping or movie-watching instead? What do you guys do to beat the heat on weekends? Last weekend I retreated the pool but now that I have power maybe I can stay in and relax. That would be nice!

Now that Fashion Friday is out of the way, I wanted to talk with you all about these two awesome blogger awards I was nominated for recently. The first was the Beautiful Blogger Award, which the wonderful Ashley at Hudson on the Potomac nominated me for. Thanks Ashley!

Here are the rules:

  1. Copy the Beautiful Blogger Award logo and place it in your post.
  2. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  3. Tell 7 things about yourself.
  4. Nominate 7 other bloggers for their own Beautiful Blogger Award, and comment on their blogs to let them know.

You know what’s interesting about this award? I  nominated for a very similar version of it from Stephanie at My Freckled Life. This one is called the One Lovely Blog Award.

Here are the rules:

  • Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
  • Paste the award image on your blog, anywhere.
  • Share 7 facts about yourself.
  • Nominate some other blogs you like for this award.
  • Post a comment on each of your nominees’ blogs telling them about the nomination.

Hmmm. Interesting huh? Methinks these things are becoming a trend? Anyway, I’m honored that Ashley and Stephanie both thought of me for these two great awards and I’m thrilled to participate! So without further ado, here are 7 random things about me…

I had sheep when I was little. Yes, like Bahhhh sheep. My mom’s house has a huge back yard with an even bigger hill, and cutting the lawn would take her two whole days. So when my step-dad came into the picture, he built her a fence, threw a few sheep in there, and let them go to town “cutting” the grass. While they ate mostly grass, we also fed them grain or hay in the winter. And my mom never had to cut the grass in the backyard again!

Please disregard the awkward matching Limited Too tank top, shorts, and jelly sandals. Ugh.

I am obsessed with animals. In addition to my obsession with my dog (don’t pretend like you haven’t noticed…) and the way I am suffocating snuggling the sheep above, I have been known to make friends with any animal I see, be it a bird, pigeon, bug, or mouse. I don’t discriminate!

I used to play the flute. From fourth grade to eighth grade I played in the school band and had dorky concerts where we played medleys from musicals. I was second chair and was actually pretty good at playing, although I stopped before high school.

I was a cheerleader. (Part of the reason I stopped playing flute!) I started cheering in middle school for a little league team and then continued all throughout high school. While I liked cheering for our (pretty good) basketball team and our (even better) football team, competition was by far my favorite! I loved the routines, high energy, and nervous feelings that I got during a competition. I definitely miss it!

I chew gum and ice all day long. When I am working I have to either sip a huge glass of water with plenty of ice for chewing, or I need to be chomping away on gum. I think I must not have ever passed that Freudian phase where you satisfy your mouth (or something like that) because I always find myself chewing on random things. To avoid chewing the back of my pen (yep, I am guilty of this) I have to have gum or ice. And yes, I know ice is terrible for your teeth, but I can’t stop!

I crack my knuckles. I started cracking my knuckles in high school when a boy I liked at the time would come over to me and crack my thumb knuckle (quite the charmer ;) ha). After that I started cracking them throughout the day, and now it is a regular habit that I don’t even notice anymore. I know it’s not great for my hands, but myth busters proved it doesn’t make your knuckles swell…so there! lol.

My family is really small. Although I currently have a little sister and a half-sister, I grew up as an only child without many cousins. On my mom’s side, I am the only grandchild and on my dad’s I am one of five. Out of my five cousins, one lives in California, one lives in Florida, and three live in Georgia, so I don’t see any of them very often. Growing up I learned how to be independent and entertain myself, which I have found are very valuable skills to have!

So there you have it, seven random things about me :)

So now it’s your turn! I nominate the following bloggers for either the Beautiful Blogger Award and/or the One Lovely Blog Award (you choose!). Forgive me if any of you have already seen this and happy blogging!

Hi everyone! Guess where I’m writing this post from? My cube? Nope. Not this girl. I am actually sitting at home resting on the couch. Why, you ask? Oh you know, because I didn’t leave work until 11:45 p.m.  last night. Yes I said p.m. Meaning I worked six extra hours. Ugh! But, it did mean I got to sleep in for two extra hours this morning and leave two hours early. Plus I still get some overtime, so it’s not too bad! Also, my team really needed my help with a new business proposal and all of the senior level staff stayed late too. Sometimes you just gotta take one for the team- literally!

So anyway, I need to get a few things finished around the apartment before the official start of my weekend, so I will keep this post brief. First things first though, let’s get to today’s Fashion Friday outfit!

T-shirt: Nordstrom Rack

Skirt: Urban Outfitters

Shoes: Nordstrom Rack

I actually had a really cute new maxi dress that I planned to wear today with a jean jacket, but as soon as I stepped outside for my morning run I knew that wasn’t happening. I don’t know what the weather is like near you, but in DC it is hot. Like, seriously, unbearably hot. I was sweating my face off just walking to the metro! Therefore, I figured a long maxi dress and a jean jacket would have been horrible. Maybe next week!

Edited to add: Sheesh I just looked at the actual temperature on my phone. 104 and feels like 112?! Is this a joke?

Ah! Soooo hot!

Anyway, I have a lot on the agenda for this afternoon so I’d better sign off! My friend Catrina is coming down from New York so I need to do paint my nails, vacuum, and take out the trash. Plus I have three bananas that are on their last legs, so I’m looking to do some baking this afternoon. I promise to share the recipe if it turns out well!

Have a great weekend!

Interesting reads:

Hello everyone!! Happy Friday!! Not only is it a) Friday and b) summer, but I got this post up really late today which means it’s already almost time to go home! Yowza, the day has flown right by. So, without further ado, shall I share my outfit for another Fashion Friday??

Dress: Target

Shoes: Target (my friend Megan works at Target so I can practically see her rolling her eyes)

Jean jacket: Gap

Speaking of Jack-like things, Jack was clearly a fan of this outfit since he decided to be a part of today’s Fashion Friday picture. This was after chasing him around the apartment this morning with his rope and tennis balls. What, isn’t that how everyone starts their morning? No? Ok, moving on.

I also had on these snazzy earrings that my mom brought me back from her recent trip to Italy. Thanks, Mom!

So I hope you liked today’s outfit! And also, since I’m in a good mood, anyone care to see another fun outfit from this week? Do ya?? Ok well even if you don’t, I’ll show you what I wore yesterday because I was a fan of the ensemble.

Dress: Marshall’s (seen again here)

Leopard Belt: J. Crew

Leopard shoes: DSW

Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack (if you couldn’t tell, I have these in a gazillion colors and wear them all the time. They are such a closet staple!)

This was a fun outfit with all the leopard accessories :) I <3 leopard!

The Truth About Sugar

Yesterday I was checking my email and I came across one of my biweekly newsletters from WebMD. I signed up to receive health/fitness-related WebMD updates in the fall and love looking through them when I’m bored. They always have great articles on what foods you should be eating, what exercises are most efficient, etc. Of course, you can always read similar information from Fitness, Shape, Cooking Light, and other sources, but WebMD does a good job of not only explaining what you should be doing but also telling you why it’s important.

For example, I like knowing that when you’re hungover you should workout to feel better because your body burns off alcohol first, then fat, then muscle. If you don’t work out then you will spend all day burning your alcohol calories and never get down to burning much fat. Obviously I realize this is easier said than done, but isn’t it nice to know?

Anyway, I came across this article yesterday about being addicted to sugar. It talks about all the diets that are hot right now that recommend you completely eliminate sugar from your diet. It explains that sugar gives you a rush at first, but then you will crash and be zapped from all your energy.

Source: WebMD

However, WebMD being the amazing source that it is, recognizes that eliminating anything from your diet forever is not sustainable, and suggests trying to limit sugar in your diet by consuming smaller increments instead (i.e. less in your coffee, skip on dessert). It also suggests getting your sugar fix from fresh fruits instead (yum!).

Of course, sugar can still lead to weight gain so you need to watch your portion sizes, but I love that WebMD gives me good, solid advice that I can stick to and know that it came from a reputable source. Plus this article couldn’t have arrived at a better time for me since I am trying to revamp my healthy eating habits. The science in this article helped to motivate me even more!

So there you have it! I just thought I’d pass along that little nugget of wisdom and recommend you all to one of my favorite health resources!

So tell me, where do you get your health information from??

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! First things first, to start off this beautiful morning in the best possible way, I want to announce the winner of last week’s slow cooker giveaway. And the winner is…Timi! SlimKicker loved her awesome challenge idea: “A good challenge for me is to do 100 pushups in a week, but each day make it more than yesterday.” Timi, if you could please shoot me an email we can get the slow cooker over to you. Thanks to everyone who entered!

Anyway, now that that’s taken care of, let’s get to this week’s Fashion Friday post!

Jeans: Forver 21 ($9 baby woot!)

Shirt: I think also Forever 21 but purchased ages ago

Flats: Urban Outfitters

This is a pretty simple, summer outfit. I wasn’t wowed by it, to say the least (you know those mornings where you throw on a hundred different outfits only to pick something you actually don’t even like? Yeah. Me this morning). Thank goodness Fabio had a client meeting today and therefore didn’t have to be at work as early as usual. He was able to talk me down and tell me I looked great, which saved me from at least another 15 minutes of ripping apart my closet. Why do I do these things?

Anywho, I wanted to use today’s post to talk about a book I finished reading last weekend, Divergent.

Book Review: Divergent

Source: Wikipedia

Divergent is the first book in a series by Veronica Roth which follows the life of Beatrice (later called Tris) as she grows up and struggles to fit into a warped-future United States on the brink of war. In this warped-future time, people are divided into “factions” (like colonies I guess) based on their ideals. At sixteen, members of each faction take an aptitude test to tell them which values are most important to them, and, which corresponding faction they could belong in. Members can then choose to stay in the faction where they were born, or pick a new one depending on their aptitude test results and their personal interests.

Tris was born into the Abnegation faction which values being selfless. The other factions include Erudite: The Intelligent, Amity: The Peaceful, Candor: The Honest, and Dauntless: The Brave. When Tris takes her aptitude test, however, her results show that she is Divergent and could fit into any number of factions. Tris then makes the bravest choice of all by leaving her family in Abnegation, where she didn’t feel she belonged, and joining Dauntless. In Dauntless, Tris learns more about herself, her capabilities, and her strength. She also finds friendship and love, and finds out she will do anything for those she cares for, which shows that she really is selfless and would have fit in at Abnegation after all.

After Tris is initiated into Dauntless, she learns of a plot against Abnegation and uses her bravery and strength to save her family and her people. While Tris still identifies with the old Dauntless values, new rulers have partnered with the brilliant Erudite to corrupt the values and use the bravery and violence as a war strategy. Tris then has to fight through the warfare to save her people, making brave sacrifices along the way.

The book ends when the war seems to have calmed down, though I am sure the next book in the trilogy will pick it right back up again.

My Thoughts

This book is a lot like the Hunger Games series, in that it is a bit of a weird subject, but incredibly well-written and action-packed. I actually think I like Divergent a bit more than the Hunger Games, which tells you how much I enjoyed the book. I am actually already hoping that they will be making a movie after Divergent (anyone know?).

I thought the character development in the book was fantastic and you feel Tris’ emotions the same way you would feel your own, including the not-so-nice ones that most people wouldn’t admit to feeling. I think because the portrayal of Tris is so real, the reader gets drawn right into the plot of the book and can’t put it down.

I really enjoyed this story and as soon as I’m done reading my current book (Drop Dead Healthy, as part of Julie’s June Book Club) I definitely want to read Insurgent, the next book in the sequel.

So, if you guys have read this book, what did you think? What did you think of Tris’ decision to pick Dauntless over Abnegation? What about her brother’s choice to select Erudite? How do you think Tris’ friendship with Christina will change now that Will is dead? Do you think Peter and Marcus will sabotage everything?

Have a good weekend, everyone!

PSST…Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a free slow cooker! The giveaway will close on Thursday, June 14.

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday to ya! Anyone have any fun weekend plans? My little sister is having a pool party tomorrow for her 7th birthday, which was actually a few weeks ago, but she wanted to wait until the weather warmed up more. All of her friends from school will be there (oh joy- who doesn’t love a gaggle of first graders) but a bunch of our neighbors and family friends will be there to join in on the barbeque, beer, and wine. The weather is supposed to be nice so it should be a lot of fun! I’ll try to take as many pictures as I can.

Anyway, like I said, it’s Friday and you know what that means…it’s time for Fashion Friday! I realized that it’s been a while since I explained why I have Fashion Friday posts, so I wanted to give you all a recap again! My work has this wonderful tradition of having “casual Fridays” where we can wear jeans/whatever we want and get free bagels and/or doughnuts for breakfast! Because it’s the one day of the week where I can wear what I want (other than whatever sweats or workout clothes I romp around in on the weekends haha) I like to take pictures of what I wear on Fridays and post them to the blog. Maybe it’s weird or boring or stupid, but it’s the only time I can actually wear clothes that I like, so I embrace it!

So, here’s what I’m wearin’ today.

Shirt: Ross ($8.99 woop woop!)

Jeans: Nordstrom Rack

Shoes: Kelsi Dagger via Rue La La

Here’s a picture of the shoes up close:

And there you have it! That’s today’s Fashion Friday info for ya.

Staying Healthy When You’re Stressed

Now, if you haven’t noticed, I have been incredibly busy this week. Like leave-work-at-8:30-p.m. and only-post-one-recipe-all-week type of week. And even though I’ve posted every day, I feel like they have all been kind of short and impersonal (like the giveaway post, which is short, but hopefully you guys like it anyway). Unfortunately, given the schedule I had and the amount of work I have to do, there wasn’t really much of an option! For that, I apologize, but I want to at least share some of the things I learned through this crazy busy week at work.

Utilize the time you can control and forget about the time you can’t

One thing that has really saved me from feeling like my health goals crashed and burned this week, was working out when I knew I could. For example, I had very little control over when I could leave the office and there was not a single night this week where I got home before 7 pm. I didn’t know if I’d have time to work out after I got home or not, so I used the only time I could control, my mornings, to get my workouts in. By running in the morning with Jack and completing some circuits from my Insanity DVDs, I was able to maintain my exercise on a schedule I knew would work for me. If I had waited until after work, I know I would have been too tired or grouchy to exercise. That way, when it was 6:30 and I was nowhere near ready to leave the office, I wasn’t stressed because at least I knew I had already worked out for the day.

Ask for help when you need it

Sometimes I am guilty of trying to do too much at one time. I take on so much at work and try to help everyone with everything and I just wind up overdoing it. Because I do this so frequently at work, I know that when I get home I need to ask for help managing other things. This week I was vocal about my stress and often asked Fabio if he would help me out with little things like walking Jack and making dinner. One night Fabio cooked me his favorite meal, chicken parmesan, and (after adding some broccoli and spinach to my portion) I was able to enjoy a delicious dinner without having to lift a finger.

He is the best and will always take care of me, but sometimes I have to remember that I need to tell him that I’m struggling and need help. That can be difficult to remember.

Look to the good times ahead

One of my favorite sayings is “this too, shall pass.” Another is “time heals all wounds.” Although my busy work schedule is not necessarily a wound, it is something difficult that I am getting used to and it can be upsetting at times. Since a guy on our team recently switched to a new team, I have been completely drowning in all the work he left behind. I need to remind myself that eventually they will hire a replacement and eventually I will get better at his work and be able to complete it faster. Even just looking ahead to the weekend has helped calm me down. It can only get better from here, and that’s what I have to keep reminding myself.

Anyway, those are just a few of the tips I’ve learned from this insanely stressful week at work. What are some things you do to keep calm when you’re stressed? One of the main things I avoid is overeating or turning to junk food for comfort. Even if I’m going to eat fast food to save time, I try to go to places like Chop’t or Sweet Green where I can make my own salad and pick my toppings. Nothing ruins a healthy streak quicker than a fast-food binge!

Goooooood morning people! Happy Friday to ya! Although this week was a short one, I think I kept telling myself a million times that it was almost over so it actually wound up feeling pretty long. Fail. Oh well, Friday is here at last and you know what that means…it’s Fashion Friday!

Dress: Target (or Targét as I like to call it)

Jean Jacket: Gap (from forever ago, but they are coming back in style!)

Shoes: Urban Outfitters

Sorry for my weird claw hand folding the phone. Not really sure what happened there. Oh, and also sorry for the big crack in the mirror. That happened an hour after we hung it up because Jack thought it was another dog and he was trying to play with it. Right. This is after we replaced the first mirror which he actually shattered in a million pieces because he kept running into it. Yes, my dog is insane.

Anywho, does anyone have any fun weekend plans? Tonight I’m hanging out with some friends to barbeque and then go out in DC. I picked up some delicious corn from Trader Joe’s this week and I can’t wait to grill it! Last night we tried broiling it in the oven after soaking it in water for about 20 minutes and although it was delicious, it was lacking that yummy grill taste.

Yumm!! Barbeques with friends are always a blast!

Then tomorrow I am heading to the National’s game with Fabio, my friend from work Ellen, and her boyfriend. They are playing the Braves and Ellen grew up in Atlanta so even though neither of us are big baseball fans, it should be really fun. The boys, of course, are both obsessed with baseball and are super excited. Fabio actually used to be a bat boy for the Yankees and the Mets in NY so he knows pretty much everything there is to know about baseball. I have a feeling the boys will be having one conversation while us girls gossip about everything else. It should be a great time!

Then on Sunday I am hoping to go to my dad’s house for some pool time. While I was at work yesterday he sent me the following text:

"The pool is waiting for you!"

Rude. Doesn’t he know I’m at work? Haha but it seriously made me want to go home this weekend and spend some quality time with the fam by the pool.

Anyway, what are you guys doing this weekend? Anything fun? Any pool plans?? If you are planning to be prancing around in a bikini, I recommend this article and this article for some last minute workout ideas!

Have a great weekend everyone!

P.S. My friend Catrina just posted another picture from Memorial Day Weekend so I added it to my MDW recap post. Check it out!

Good morning people! By the time you read this I will either be in the car heading to Delaware or I will be lounging on the beach soaking up the sun. Either way, it’s going to be a heck of a lot better than going to work! I had such a busy week trying to get everything finished by today and I’m so happy to be free! Yay!!

For today’s Fashion Friday post I’m going to show you an outfit I wore to work earlier this week, since I figured no one wants to see my comfy traveling outfit haha.

Dress: Necessary Clothing (small store in NYC)

Belt: Necessary Clothing (came with a different dress)

Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack

Flats: Tory Burch (via Bloomingdale’s)

This outfit gives you a better idea of what I wear to work on a typical day in the summer, as opposed to always seeing my casual Friday outfit. Luckily my office is not super dressy so I can usually get away with a nice sundress and sweater. Works for me!

Workout

Today’s workout was another good one, and I woke up early to run with Jack and do Insanity. Since I’m heading to the beach tomorrow (or today, by the time you read this) I tried to burn a few extra calories during the day and found myself squatting randomly when I had to pick up something heavy and contracting my core more than usual. I guess you could say I am just getting really excited? Haha I felt like such a nerd but I’m sure it had to help a little, right? Every muscle-contraction helps?

Dinner

Tonight’s dinner wasn’t really a recipe, so I won’t bother going into too many details, but I had a huge veggie omelet with (burned- oops) turkey bacon and an English muffin.

Can you tell Fabio bought the English muffins? I would never buy the plain white ones (I always get whole wheat with high fiber), but I forgot to specify when I asked him to pick some up the other day. Oh well!

My omelet featured two eggs, chopped onions, tomatoes, broccoli, spinach, and sharp cheddar cheese. It was so good! Breakfast for dinner has always been one of my favorites Smile

After dinner I had to hurry up and pack everything for my trip. Jack was helping.

Everything was pretty neat and organized, however you should have seen the mess I made trying to figure out what to bring. It looked a little something like this…

Oops! Haha. In the end I found what I needed, packed everything up, and now I am all set for the morning! I can’t wait!

While I’m gone, Stephanie from My Freckled Life will be guest posting, so don’t forget to drop in to see what she has to say! She’s great and I know you all will love her.

See you when I get back!
