Wow, this weekend really flew by fast, didn’t it? I feel like one minute I was telling you all how excited I was for the weekend and now it’s already over. Boo. It’s ok though, because my birthday just happens to be this week and I have some fun plans in the forecast. Woohoo!

But before I get too far ahead of myself, let me tell you about my weekend!

Friday evening after work Fabio and I didn’t really feel like going out so we wound up staying in, ordering a chicken and tomato pizza from Ledo’s, and watching the Hunger Games!

Gosh I love Ledo’s. Yum!!

I read the Hunger Games books last summer (I was early on the Hunger Games bandwagon) but never got around to watching the movie. Finally Fabio and I decided to bite the bullet and rent it On Demand for $4.99. I thought the movie was really good and was pleasantly surprised. I heard so many people complain about it that I was expecting it to be awful, but I liked it a lot! We had a great evening watching the movie and relaxing 🙂

Saturday morning I got up nice and early to meet my friends for brunch. We went to Wonderland in Columbia Heights and took full advantage of their $11 bottomless mimosas. Ooooh yeah.

Their food was pretty delicious as well and I got a breakfast skillet called “The Veganater” which had roasted potatoes, broccoli, spinach, peppers, mushrooms, and veggie sausage. I got mine with scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast. It was fantastic!

The weather was beautiful and we weren’t too hot or too cold. We spent the afternoon catching up and enjoying the plethora of mimosas!

It was such a fun way to spend the day!

Then my friend Megan and I took a cab back to Arlington, rested up a bit (aka napped off the champagne), and then met up again later in the evening for a pregame with more of our guy friends. We all met at my apartment and had a few drinks to start us off, and then met up with more of our friends in D.C. again. We wound up on a great rooftop with a bunch of our guy friends from college, and then headed to our final destination, a bar in Georgetown. We met up with a bunch of Fabio’s older fraternity brothers, which he was really excited about.

It was really nice seeing all the familiar faces again this weekend!

On Sunday morning Fabio and I woke up and then immediately headed over to his aunt’s house in Falls Church. Fabio’s mom and cousin were in town from NY this weekend and we wanted to make sure we saw them before they left!

We wound up going to a Bolivian restaurant (his mom’s side of the family is from Bolivia) and I enjoyed some tasty saltenas and silpancho! I LOVE Bolivian food!!

After lunch I dropped Fabio off at his aunt’s house so he could finish catching up with his family while I went to the grocery store and treated myself to a mani/pedi 🙂 I loved having the time to myself to unwind and relax.

After going grocery shopping I headed back to pick up Fabio, but not before spending some time with his little cousins. I even helped his cousin Savannah (age 6) paint her nails like mine. She wanted each one to be a different color so I helped her out 🙂

Little girls are so cute 🙂

After nail painting we headed back home to relax for the remainder of the day. I downloaded a new book on my Kindle (Memoirs of a Geisha- have you read it??) and baked some healthy apple cookies, since I have a gazillion apples in my fridge right now (I can’t help it- they were on sale!)

They look just like my healthy zucchini cookies don’t they?? Probably because I used the same icing that was leftover from baking those 😉 Yay! They are quite tasty and I will be posting the recipe soon!!

So tell me, how was your weekend??

  1. Looks like a great weekend! A little staying in, a little going out, best of both worlds. I have a niece who’s 6 years old and she always insists that I paint her nails each a different color too! haha

  2. Sounds like a fun weekend! Love those nights of just staying in, ordering a pizza & cuddling up to a movie! Glad Fabio was able to spend some time with his family!! 🙂

Cannot wait for that recipe either girl!!

  3. (Can you tell I’m catching up hardcore on blog reading instead of being productive today??) Sounds like you had an awesome weekend! I just treated myself to a birthday Mani too, so I’m right there with you! Happy early birthday btw – we’re almost birthday twins!
